Do you struggle with constant overthinking and negative thoughts?

Do you often feel hopeless in the face of life’s challenges?

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. For over 28 years, I’ve worked with people who relate to their inner experience and their lives in ways that create emotional pain and a sense of despair. What I’ve learned is this: depression is NOT a fixed condition, a disease, or simply a chemical imbalance in the brain.

Instead, depression is a process — a way of relating to your own experience and to life in a way that feels heavy, stuck, and hopeless.

Its more accurate to talk about “depressing” or relating to one´s experience in a depressing way.

The Role of Rumination in Depressing

One of the most common patterns I see is rumination — getting caught in loops of repetitive, unproductive thinking. People who feel depressed often find themselves stuck in these mental spirals, which can significantly lower their mood and reinforce feelings of helplessness.

But here’s the good news:
Rumination is a habit of mind, not a life sentence.
With the right insights, skills and understandings, it’s absolutely possible to reduce the amount of overthinking that’s dragging you down.

A New Perspective, A New Path

Through skilled psychological work, we can begin to shift the way you relate to your thoughts, emotions, and challenges. You can learn to:

  • Break free from chronic rumination.
  • See through hopeless narratives.
  • Build emotional resilience.
  • Cultivate a more empowered relationship with your life.

When I walked into Jørgen’s presentation at the 2018 UK Hypnosis Convention, I had no idea I would be leaving behind a piece of baggage that I’d been dragging around with me for 34 years. Jørgen had asked for demo subject’s, who wanted to let go of a trauma, and I’d put my hand up. But when I said the words “My parents moving abroad and me staying behind in boarding school” in answer to his question regarding the nature of my trauma, the palpatations, difficulty in breathing and feeling of distress that followed meant I was actually relieved when I was not chosen! Being separated from my Mum repeatedly, for months at a time, between the ages of 9 and 11 had been a deeply painful experience and it occurred to me I probably didn’t want to be dealing with that in front of a room full of people after all…

The most powerful demo followed and I admired both the lady who volunteered and Jørgen for taking her from a rating of 9 on her distress scale, down to a 1 during their session together. I was so moved by what had unfolded I went up to thank Jørgen at the end and said that, whilst I’d not been chosen for the demo, I had benefitted from seeing it and would definitely apply his model to my issue. “Ok, well let’s do this!” he said and over the following ten minutes or so he brought me from a place where tears were streaming down my face and I felt the most incredible pain, to where I still am to this day. I can think about my parents leaving, or indeed explore any memory from that two year period of my life, and there is no feeling at all, there is just nothing! To be free of that distress is extraordinary! I walked around the rest of the day with a huge smile on my face, I just couldn’t believe it! I wondered if those old feelings might ever come back, they have not!

Jørgen showed me that day that you really can change someones life in moments, when you know how, and I am forever grateful

I have struggled for several years with depression and sleep problems.
Among previous treatment methods, I can mention that I was on Modium for 3 months at the end of the 1980s and was considerably better afterward. But about 4 years ago I had major sleep problems and tried several types of sleeping pills without them really helping me much.

I also tried neurofeedback at [redacted] in Oslo, and this treatment helped me with my depression and made me function well in work life for a period. But I still had sleep problems.

Then I attended a course in a state-regulated program and met Jørgen Rasmussen.
He wanted to help me with my problems and after 3 treatments with hypnosis, where he addressed my sleep problems, proper diet, and helped me put the past behind and the future ahead of me, I want to state that this has helped me significantly.

I now sleep well at night without any form of sleeping medication. I lie down in the evening without negative thoughts and feel that I function much better overall.
I also want to mention that I had pain in my neck and jaw that was so bothersome that I went to the dentist because I thought it was something wrong with my teeth or jaw. But it was not that.
After the treatment with Jørgen, I have to this day not had a trace of these pains in my head. After the treatment, I was quite numb in the jaw area, but it went away after a while, and the pain has since disappeared.

So NLP has helped me with my issues, and I sleep better and better.
Now time will tell if I also manage to lose some weight.
I thank Jørgen Rasmussen in any case for having helped me.
